Dear All,

Sorry guys for my late updates.

Wonder who will be there physically in Baku?
Have talked to the Chengetai in Toronto that we can get a room for our APrIGF discussions.

For easier coordination, let's do a doodle here to gather the possible time for us to meet.

Some recap from Toronto, since we didn't really have time and enough people to make the discussion representative.
But the basic suggestions put through was that to accept the proposal of South Korea for APrIGF 2013 and India to be the host of 2014 due to the following reasons:
- Recalling AP* meeting in India last Feb, South Korea has given way to Japan for 2012 and agreed to hold it for 2013 which the committee at that point all agreed.
- The government KCC of South Korea has already committed and allocated budget for the event
- Confirming hosts for 2 years ahead will give us a longer time span to plan for the future meetings and also our internal organizations

We shall try to kick the ball rolling to ensure we have enough participants and promotions for APrIGF 2013. So the meeting conclusion in IGF Baku will be key.

In addition, just want to confirm that if PengHwa will be representing us to report in the Inter-regional Dialogus Session on Day 2 afternoon?

Best Regards,

Yannis Li

Fouad,

To refresh everyone’s memory, I was approached at the most recent APNIC meeting by Dr Govind of the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology and Rajesh was very quickly brought into the conversation. So both the ISPAI and the Indian Government are in the loop.

And yes, the plan is to have a meeting at the IGF.

There are two things here Professor Peng that this is coming from the ISPs only. At some point earlier I believe that there was a communication between the Govt of India with you. It would be useful to put the two contact points in touch with eachother and they may already know one another well in the context of IGFs.

Are we going to have a meeting during the IGF or before or something in Baku?

Best

Folks,

I’m forwarding the email from the President of the Indian ISP association.

Meanwhile, have we got a date and time to meet to discuss the two issues of the process and then of the venue for next APrIGF?

I’m hopeful that those who were at the ICANN meeting in Toronto moved our own governance issue along.

Edmon,
Could one of your able staffers help to coordinate date and time? It would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Peng Hwa

Dear Rajesh (if I may),

We will be discussing the matter at the IGF in Baku. Right now, we have a strong bid from Korea. But having witnessed (from a distance) the Indian IGF, we know the interest is strong.

You may be assured that we will consider your case strongly as well.

Dear Professor Peng,

Please refer to our discussion during APNIC meeting at Cambodia and our Interest to host coming APrIGF in India. You were also keen for the same.

Waiting for your response along with further formality for the same.

As you can understand that India after a great success in Mobile Sector by adding more than 950 million Mobile connection, now we are targeting Broadband & Internet and will achieve the target of 600 Million Broadband connection by 2020 given by our Govt. Due to this large number of Internet users emerging from our country which will effect Internet growth in our Asia Pacific Region hence detail discussion of various Internet Governance issue is required.

I hope you will consider our request of hosting next APrIGF in India and will respond ASAP.
